Johnny Barrick will pocket a hundred million dollars when his company goes public. To celebrate, he rents a small, isolated island for a weekend and invites nine guests. Among them are the company’s Chief Financial Officer, an anesthesiologist, a handsome architect, a beautiful model, a once-wealthy woman and a writer of crime fiction, all of whom anticipate making money from the IPO. Additionally, there’s Hank Tower, an ex-spy now a New York PI, his companion and a friend of hers. Ten people in all. All but Tower and his companion are connected to the IPO.
Conflicts are high among the eight who are involved in the stock offering. Some of them are desperate for it to succeed; some want it to fail.
While on the island one of the ten dies of a heart attack after confiding to Tower that there are serious problems with the IPO’s numbers. Tower is convinced the person was murdered, but is unable to explain how it was done. Later, there are more deaths, all of which are connected to the IPO.
The mysterious killer is merciless as he or she systematically murders members of the original ten. Tower works desperately to find the killer before he or she kills him or his companion. In a terrorizing scene, he finally confronts the murderer. The killer boasts why the heart-attack murder was untraceable while he or she points a Beretta at Tower’s heart with intent to kill.
